A primary school in south west London where bullying is 'extremely rare' has been rated 'Outstanding' by Ofsted.

Inspectors said pupils at Chase Bridge Road Primary School, in Twickenham, benefitted from an 'excellent education' and 'ambitious curriculum'. Ofsted rated the school, on Kneller Road, 'Outstanding' across all areas of inspection after visiting on 11 and 12 March.

It is an improvement for the school, which had been rated 'Good' by the education watchdog at previous inspections in 2016 and 2019. The school has 659 pupils aged between three and 11.

A new report by Ofsted said pupils were part of an 'inclusive, warm and friendly school community' and could take part in a range of extracurricular activities, including magic club, chess, coding and basketball.

The school provided plenty of opportunities for students to get involved in music, it added, with three school choirs and an orchestra of 50 pupils.

Inspectors found pupils worked hard and achieved 'strong outcomes' across the curriculum, including national assessments, and learned to read accurately and fluently.

They said the school hosted a mental health charity on its grounds, which meant pupils and staff could access a network of wellbeing support, while students with special educational needs (SEND) learned in a 'welcoming school environment'.

The report said: "Pupils behave excellently. A calm learning environment prevails in lessons because of well-established routines.

"Incidents of bullying are extremely rare. If they should occur, pupils are confident to talk with staff and know they would be listened to and their concerns taken seriously."

It added: "Staff are rightly proud to work at Chase Bridge. Teachers, including those at the early stages of their careers, receive high-quality professional development and coaching.

"This means pupils benefit from precise teaching. Those responsible for governance fulfil their duties and share leaders' high ambitions. As a result, all pupils receive excellent provision and achieve highly."

The school responded to Ofsted's report in its latest newsletter, which said: "This report is more than a recognition of high standards, it's a celebration of everything we achieve together.

"We have been truly overwhelmed by the kind words from parents and the wider community. It's a powerful reminder that Chase Bridge is more than just a school, it's a place of belonging, where teamwork and shared purpose help our community to thrive."

Head teacher Daniel Bishop told the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS): "We are proud to share that Ofsted has recognised Chase Bridge Primary School as Outstanding in all areas of the inspection framework.

"This achievement reflects the unwavering commitment of our staff, children and families in building a warm, inclusive community where every child is supported to thrive both academically and personally. Our vision to care for others, excel at learning and express your talents, is more than just words – it is lived out every day across our school."
