Local residents in Twickenham are fundraising for an accessible defibrillator at Marble Hill which could be the "difference between life and death".
The Friends of Marble Hill launched the JustGiving fundraiser to raise £1,500 towards a defibrillator at the Park Café, with donations also going towards training café staff and volunteers.
According to the London Ambulance Service, a cardiac arrest happens in London roughly every 30 to 40 minutes.
Without a defibrillator, The Friends of Marble Hill said the chance of survival is cut by 10%.
The group wrote on its fundraiser: "An accessible defibrillator at the café, one of the park's busiest and most central locations, would mean help is never far away.
"Whether it's a jogger in distress, a grandparent out for a stroll, or a child in need, your donation could be the difference between life and death."
The funds raised would cover:
- Installation of a fully automatic, public-access defibrillator
- Weatherproof and vandal-resistant external cabinet with 24/7 access
- Maintenance costs
- Training and awareness materials for café staff and volunteers
The Friends of Marble Hill added: "If you've ever enjoyed a cup of tea under the trees, listened to the dawn chorus, let your kids run wild on the grass, or simply felt your shoulders drop as you stepped through the gates – this is your moment to give back."
