An optician in Twickenham has been granted permission for new signage at its shopfront.

Specsavers on London Road submitted plans to install one externally illuminated sign and one hanging sign, which have been approved by Richmond Council.

On behalf of Specsavers, Fisch Design Ltd proposed new shopfront signage in the form of an externally illuminated fascia panel.

In addition, a folded aluminium back panel with an acrylic logo and lettering illuminated by white LEDs from within was proposed, along with a projecting sign suspended from a steel bracket.

Fisch Design Ltd said: "The proposed signage is essential, as it will give the store brand recognition within the high street and act as a wayfinding point for the general public who are visiting the store.

"The new shopfront decorations and tiles to the stall riser are required to help protect the base of the timber shopfront from further water ingress and deterioration.

"The existing timber stall riser is not ageing well due to dampness and water ingress, and the new tiles would help protect it from further damage."

The site and building do not carry listed status, but they do sit within the Twickenham Riverside Conservation Area.
