Twickenham weekend railway works to impact services
By Nub News Reporter 16th Oct 2026
South Western Railway (SWR) services will be altered on Sunday, 18 October, as engineering work closes railway lines in the Twickenham area.
Buses will replace trains between Barnes and Hounslow via Richmond, and between Barnes and Teddington via Richmond, while maintenance work takes place throughout the day.
Services between London Waterloo and Reading will depart earlier than usual and be diverted between Putney and Feltham, with additional stops at Barnes and Hounslow.
Trains between London Waterloo and Windsor will also be diverted between Barnes and Feltham via Hounslow, making additional stops along the way.
Meanwhile, services running on the London Waterloo route via Richmond and Kingston will start from Shepperton.
Afternoon and evening services between London Waterloo and Kingston via Hounslow will not run.
SWR has advised passengers to check their journeys carefully before travelling, as there may be fewer services than usual due to the reduced availability of rail replacement buses.
Services are also expected to be busier than normal.
Journey planners are due to be updated on Saturday night (17 October), although the operator warned that short-notice changes are possible.
Passengers can check the latest information through the South Western Railway website.
