Twickenham's splash pad petition splashes past 500 signatures
By Cesar Medina 19th Aug 2026
A local's petition for a splash pad to come to Twickenham has reached over 500 signatures, meaning it could be considered by a Council committee.
Launched by resident Rosanna Ryan, she believes a splash pad at Kneller Gardens would be a "valuable investment for local families and future generations" as summers get warmer.
At the time of writing, the petition has received 544 signatures from other residents.
As the petition is over 500 signatures, a Richmond Council service committee must consider it unless the petitioner wants the petition to run its course.
If the petition gains 1,000 signatures by the time it closes (and had not been considered by the relevant service Committee), it will be presented in a full Council meeting where Councillors will hold a debate about it.
Ms Ryan said: "A splash pad would give local children a safe, fun and free way to cool down in hot weather.
"Encourage families to spend more time outdoors, supporting healthy, active lifestyles.
"Provide an inclusive play space that children of different ages and abilities can enjoy together.
"Reduce the need for families to travel to other areas just to enjoy water play, saving both time and money.
"Bring more visitors to Kneller Gardens, supporting the park café and the local area.
"Make the park an even more attractive destination while building on the excellent facilities that already exist."
A splash pad is a zero-depth water play area which features ground nozzles or sprinklers.
The petition is set to run until 3 November. To find out more click here.
