Despite the efforts of the emergency services, the man was pronounced dead at the scene at 1.46pm.

Residents reported that up to five ambulances were present at one stage alongside police officers and a team of specialist forensic experts.

A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.

The Metropolitan Police said: "The death is currently being treated as unexpected. There have been no arrests and enquiries continue."
