UP CLOSE: Local photographer speaks on capturing the 'beauty' of Richmond borough
By Cesar Medina 15th Mar 2026
If you live in Richmond borough then there is one thing all residents can agree on. It is the most beautiful borough in the capital.
Riverside views, historic architecture, wonderful green spaces and independent (coffee) shops.
Thanks to some of these reasons, and Ted Lasso, the borough makes the perfect subject for a social media clip or an aesthetic photo.
With over three decades of skin in the game, Twickenham-based photographer Dom Broadley tells Nub News about his experience with the camera and his perspective of the borough behind the lens.
"Most of my background has been with landscapes and much of my work has been of the local area – the River Thames, its backdrops and its beautiful scenes," said Dom.
After leaving his full-time role in sales last year, Dom says he's living the "dream" by being able to focus solely on his photography.
The photographer said: "What I'm doing now is property photography as well as exploring new opportunities like food and portrait photography.
"And of course, having enormous fun doing the photography for the wonderful folks at No Context Richmond."
The viral Richmond social media page, No Context Richmond, recently did a spin-off parody short film and shoot which Dom captured.
Projects aside, Dom still picks up his camera to shoot his favourite locations or just for fun – like he did in his childhood.
"And there's so much of interest in Richmond and Twickenham, we've got this resource on our doorstep which is kind of like a God-given gift," he said.

"I started off with a point-and-click Sony, probably in the mid 90s, and I tried to take a photo outdoors at night when it was really quite dark and I was just perplexed why it wouldn't instantly take a decent photo of what I saw with my naked eye.
"That ignited my interest in how a camera works and what you can do with it and it's been a slippery slope in terms of strain on the old wallet ever since!
"A few weeks after that, I bought a new camera and then realised the limitations of that.
"And then a year later got another camera and it's a process of upgrading and saving the old pennies – it's been going on ever since."
Dom has several locations he loves to shoot but if there was one location he had to pick as his favourite to capture through a lens, it is the top of Richmond Hill.
He explained: "Possibly my favourite location is the view of the Thames from Richmond Hill, overlooking Petersham Fields.
"I've tried to capture that a couple of times but I haven't quite done it the way I had envisioned it in my head."
He continued: "But that view has captivated artists for centuries. I think it was John Constable who did it in the 1700s, doing this beautiful painting of the river from that viewpoint, just by where the Roebuck pub is now."
Just like Constable, J.M.W. Turner, Sir Joshua Reynolds and more before him, Dom over the years has tried to capture the beauty of the borough through his lens and the camera.
