From early February Twickenham residents will have the opportunity to borrow over 30 useful DIY, gardening, cleaning, repair, and home improvement items from the new 'Library of Things' in the Patch, rather than buying new.

Richmond Council is partnering with Library of Things and Twickenham co-working space Patch to offer affordable borrowing access to useful items.

This will help residents save money and avoid wasteful one-time purchases.

Library of Things work like libraries but instead of books they're filled with over 30 rentable items, from things like carpet cleaners, drills and hedge trimmers, to sewing machines, projectors and waffle irons.

You can rent most things for under £10 and booking and collection is easy. All items are housed in self-service lockers in Patch's ground floor.

In the lead up to launch, you can get involved by visiting the Library of Things website to cast your vote for the items you'd like to see stocked.

You can also join the Library of Things mailing list to be first in line to borrow – all sign ups before opening receive a 10% discount on their first borrow.
