Twickenham Gateway, the project to overhaul Twickenham Railway Station, is in its final stages after years of work and millions invested.

This week contractors installed a set of benches conjoined with a tall white and red sign in front of the station entrance on London Road.

A spokesperson for the gateway project gave us an overview of the scheme: "Planning permission was secured by Solum Regeneration for the redevelopment of Twickenham Station and provision of 121 new homes.

"Works began in 2017 and the redeveloped multi-million pound station was opened to the public in January 2020.

"The new station provides substantial improvements for users and features a new large public plaza, lifts to the platforms to provide step-free access, a significantly larger ticket office, new retail units and additional cycle parking spaces.

"A 'Woodland' walk way to Moormead will also open later this year.

"The works to redevelop Twickenham Station also included some enhancements to the platforms such as new canopies and resurfacing of the platforms, as well as passive provision to allow Platform 2 to be brought back into use (but this would be a separate project by Network Rail if deemed required)."
