Whitton off-licence seeks 11pm alcohol sales in new application
By Cesar Medina 3rd Mar 2026
A new off-licence in Whitton has submitted an application to open until 11pm every day, which is set to be decided by Richmond Council.
The Council's licensing sub-committee will consider Jays Food and Wine's application to open and sell alcohol for consumption off the premises from Monday to Sunday, between 8am and 11pm.
One resident has objected to the Nelson Road store's plans, raising concerns about the potential impact on crime and disorder and public nuisance.
"I am concerned about the impact this application may have on the local area," the resident said.
"There are already several shops in the vicinity selling alcohol, and residents are experiencing issues such as noise, litter, public drinking and anti-social behaviour.
"Granting an additional off-licence, particularly with alcohol sales permitted until 23:00 every day, is likely to increase these problems and negatively affect residents' quality of life."
The Met Police said the application must demonstrate to councillors how it will uphold the four licensing objectives: the prevention of crime and disorder; public safety; the prevention of public nuisance; and the protection of children from harm.
The application for the off-license is at the site of the former Capital Dental.
The licensing sub-committee meeting to consider the application will take place on Tuesday, 10 March 2026, at 2pm.
