England's triumphant Red Roses bring rugby home to Twickenham this Sunday with an international against Canada.
The team is fresh from two emphatic victories against New Zealand in front of big crowds and TV audiences of over 800,000 through coverage on the BBC.
Tickets for the match at The Stoop on Sunday afternoon are selling fast with expectations of a big crowd and great atmosphere.
The Red Roses have confirmed themselves as the number one team in the world while Canada, who are number three, have long been renowned for the strength and power of their forwards.
Women's rugby is one of the fastest growing female sports in the UK and both Twickenham and Richmond are at the heart of this remarkable growth.
Harlequins women won the Premier 15s title with a victory over Saracens last season and they will have several players in the matchday squad for the game.
A total of ten Quins were called up for the 40 player squad for the autumn internationals, including player of the match Amy Cokayne, who claimed a famous hat-trick of tries against the Black Ferns, last weekend.
Other Quins forwards named in the original squad were Vickii Cornborough, Shaunagh Brown, Sarah Beckett and Emily Robinson. The backs that joined the squad included full-back Ellie Kildunne, winger Jess Breach, Lagi Tuima, Heather Cowell and Lucy Packer.
Women's rugby is growing across the area and through all age groups. Richmond FC, which has a long history of success and promoting women's rugby, has recently set up a new section for girls, while other clubs are also recruiting.
Alongside the rise of the 15 player game, this area is also at the heart of the exciting England women's 7s team, who played at the Olympics and will be competing at the Commonwealth Games next year. Expert coaches at St Mary's University, Twickenham, have been heavily involved in working with the athletes.
Significantly, the Rugby Football Union (RFU), England's governing body for rugby union, has announced they will launch a bid to host the Women's Rugby World Cup in 2025.
