Harlequins claimed a vital bonus point away win against to Sale Sharks with a dominant second half display bringing a 10 point victory.

Sale struck first with a converted try on five minutes, but Harlequins responded quickly with a score through Hannah Sims. The prop crossing over from close range following a sustained period of Harlequins attack to make the score 7-5 to the hosts on ten minutes.

It wasn't until the 28th minute that Harlequins would get their second score of the match. Quins employed their driving maul and co-captain Amy Cokayne dotted down at the back to give the visitors the lead for the first time in the match.

The lead wouldn't last long however, as just three minutes later Sale got their second try through Vicky A Irwin, who also slotted the conversion to make the score 14-10 to Sale at half time.

Harlequins came out the blocks firing in the second half, centre Bella McKenzie scoring the visitors' first try of the half on 48 minutes. The Wallaroo playmaker spotting a gap and skipping through, evading tackles to score a vintage Bella McKenzie try. McKenzie converted to make the score 14-17.

Just five minutes later, Quins got their fourth and bonus point try through another Wallaroo, Emily Chancellor. The ball was spread wide to Chancellor who stepped inside the defender to dot down under the posts for her third try in just six games for the Club. McKenzie converted to extend Harlequins' lead to ten points.

Quins continued to put pressure on Sale, keeping them camped in their own 22 for much of the second half, but it wouldn't be until the 68th minute that they would score their next try.

A yellow card for Sale for an infringement at the maul opened up the space, and Freya Aucken exploited the gap, crossing under the posts for Harlequins' fifth try of the match, which Bella McKenzie converted to make the score 31-14 going into the final ten minutes.

A late yellow card for Emily Chancellor allowed Sale back into the game, and they would have the final say of the match with a try of their own as the clock turned red. A bittersweet ending for the hosts, but a good win for Harlequins as they return home with a crucial five points in the bag.

Final score – 21 – 31
