Comeback Kings Quins were back to their usual tricks this weekend as the men from London claimed a dramatic win away to Wasps.

Harlequins travelled north to the Coventry Building Society Arena looking to set the record straight after a home loss against local rivals Saracens.

Harlequins suffered their first Premiership defeat of the season after they were edged out 28-22 by Sale Sharks.

Setting an early tone for the evening, Sale Sharks put significant pressure on the travelling Harlequins through a beefy forward pack. Despite early pressure releases through two superb lineout steals from young Quins forwards Dino Lamb and Jack Kenningham, Sale snuck through for an opening score for scrum-half Raffie Quirke in the 14th minute after a midfield break from Sale captain and blindside Jono Ross.

The return of star fly-half Marcus Smith sparked an eight-try win over Bristol Bears under the Friday night lights this week, with Harlequins continuing an unbeaten run in 2021 at their home ground.

Quins looked set to find their unbeaten run this calendar year halted by the travelling Bristol Bears, with the away side striking three unanswered blows through tries for lock Joe Joyce, wing Henry Purdy and fullback Charles Piutau within the first 25 minutes.

This weekend's Round Two Premiership clash marked a special occasion on two counts. Firstly, Club enjoyed the return of full capacity Twickenham Stoop, with supporters in full voice, watching on as their side ran home a bonus-point victory in classic Quins fashion.

The second came in the shape of a first for the league, with Sara Cox becoming the inaugural female referee to run the rule over a Premiership match.

Eddie Jones' new-look England squad will moved into Teddington's Lensbury Club for a two-day training camp next week in preparation for the autumn internationals in November against Tonga, Australia and Wold Champions, South Africa.

The 45 players and the new coaching staff Richard Cockerill, Martin Gleeson and Anthony Siebold will move in on Sunday and stay until Tuesday.

Last week we told the story of marathon runner Michael Wiggins who was about to complete his 100th marathon in a scenic race along the banks of the Thames.

We are pleased to report that Michael came 11th out of 181 finishers at the Thames Meander Marathon and completed the race in an astonishing 3 hours and 10 minutes, despite the torrential downpours that made most of us stay indoors all weekend.
