Nashi Pear Juice is the latest drink to hit the shelves, gaining popularity for its claimed ability to cure hangovers through the power of Korean pears.

Created by Richmond sisters Lucy and Taya Jackson, I put the drink to the test to find out if it really can prevent you from suffering a hangover after one too many pints the night before.

On the front of the cute, purple-coloured 220ml can are the words 'DRINK BEFORE ALCOHOL', and on the back, it instructs you to drink Nashi 20 minutes before alcohol to "make the most of your tomorrow."

You only need to drink one full can to benefit from the effects of Korean pears, which Nashi explains are naturally packed with enzymes and antioxidants that help your body metabolise alcohol—fighting off the hangover before it starts.

My initial thoughts on the drink itself: it has a slightly thicker texture than your average juice, with a pleasant sweetness.

As advertised, you're getting 100% Korean pear juice and nothing more. Honestly, I'd recommend it to pear lovers—not just those preparing for a big night out.

To keep the test as fair as possible (not that it was particularly scientific), I drank what I would usually have on a Saturday night out—which is quite a bit!

I'd say I had around seven to eight pints, along with a meal and some water in between.

For someone who had been out all night drinking and dancing, I still managed a solid eight to nine hours of sleep.

So, did it beat the morning fog? Yes, it did. My body felt a little tired after 90 minutes of football on Saturday afternoon, but my mind felt almost 100%.

The antics from the night before didn't stop me from ticking off my usual Sunday routine and to-do list.

I'd also given Nashi to two family members, and they both said they didn't experience hangovers the next day either.

Nashi Pear Juice's slogan, "Don't lose tomorrow," really does ring true—I didn't lose my precious Sunday.
