After an entertaining first-half which failed to produce any goals, a Tom Bender double, and Jordan Ellis added the third in the second period to send the Villains through.
The result was a big upset, with Northwood sitting top of the Isthmian League Southern Central, and they named an unchanged line-up to face off a Hanworth side yet to record a league win this season.
Progression past the first qualifying round sees Hanworth play Littlehampton Town in ten days time in the second qualifying round.
Despite being the underdogs it was the Villains who made the better start to the game, with Northwood struggling to find any rhythm, and Tom Bender fired the first warning shot when he hit a curling free-kick which went just wide.
Luke Tingey was able to cause problems with his throw-ins and one after 24 minutes created a scramble in the Hanworth box, but they were able to clear.
Sidney Ibie was the danger man for the hosts, as his dribbles caused problems on a number of occasions but there was no reward at the end of them.
With ten minutes remaining in the half, Tom Scott cut inside and went past Ergys Pepas but flashed a shot just wide of the Northwood goal.
The Woods thought they had the break through on the stroke of half-time as they had the ball in the back of the Hanworth but the whistle had already been blown for a push on Riccardo Alexander-Greenaway.
Then just five minutes into the second period the Villains found the breakthrough, a corner was swung in from the left and Bender rose highest in the penalty area to turn it home.
Twenty minutes later the Woods almost restored parity when a goalmouth scramble ended with Keegan Cole trying his luck, but his shot was blocked.
On 85 minutes Bender got his second when Northwood failed to deal with another corner and it was turned back into the middle for him to place beyond Andrew McCorkell in the Northwood net.
Four minutes later it was all over as Ellis scored a fabulous goal, with some help from a deflection, to take Hanworth out of sight and into the next round of the FA Trophy.
