The new Harlequins Women Head Coach, Amy Turner, has named her first team to take to the pitch in the Allianz Cup this weekend.

Amy, who has a fine playing and coaching history, arrived at the Club over the summer, and her side will be taking on the Worcester Warriors away.

Before taking up the job, she was involved in coaching England's Red Roses, who are number one in the world having beaten all-comers from both the Northern and Southern hemispheres.

As someone raised in Kingston and who finished her playing career at Quins, Amy said she is excited to lead the team in what is a new era for women's rugby.

Speaking in a Quins video interview - https://www.quins.co.uk/video/amy-turner-excited-to-get-going

- she said: "I was brought up in Kingston and supported Harlequins in the days of Brian Moore and Will Carling.

"I am looking forward to being part of the club, taking it forward and taking the women's game forward."

The women's Rugby World Cup is set to take place in New Zealand shortly and it will significantly raise the profile of the sport.

Quins have a number of players in England's Red Roses squad as well as other teams at the tournament. Four were in the squad which claimed a convincing victory over Wales this week.

Forwards Jade Konkel-Roberts and Sarah Bonar have been named in Scotland Women's squad; and Jenny Kronish will represent the USA.

The fact that players are missing for the World Cup means that Quins – like other domestic sides – will be fielding a wealth of new talent in the coming weeks.

Emily Scott will lead the side from fullback this week, with back-row Emily Robinson serving as vice-captain from number eight.

Eight players are set to make their club debuts, with Kira Leat, Nicole Wythe, Carys Graham, Eloise Harris, Beth Evans, Ellie Roberts, Lucy Hoad and Sophie Molton all donning the jester-laden jersey for the first time.

Leat and Wythe earn their debuts from starting positions in the pack at second row and blindside flanker respectively, with the final six debutants looking to make an impact from the bench.
