A gripping dramatised account of the July 1995 Srebrenica massacre, where over 8,000 Muslim Bosniak men and boys were executed on the orders of convicted war criminal Ratko Mladi. The story is told through Aida, an English teacher and UN translator, and her fierce and increasingly desperate attempts to save her husband and two young adult sons from the invading Serbian forces.
The film won 37 awards worldwide, including Best Film, Best Director and Best Actress at the 2021 European Film Awards. It was also shortlisted for the 2021 Oscar and BAFTA for the Best International Feature Film and Best Film Not in the English Language.
