Richmond & Twickenham Chess Club are planning a new section for families and young people aged 11–16.

Free taster sessions will take place at Cambridge Park Bowls Club, right in the centre of the Borough and close to excellent transport links, between 17:15 and 19:15 on Thursday evenings during the summer holidays, starting on 30 July.

Our aim is to build community spirit and lifelong friendships by bringing teens and tweens from different backgrounds together through a shared love of chess. There will be plenty of opportunities for relaxed social games, and our friendly, experienced coaches will be on hand to offer informal mentoring for anyone who wants it.

We'd love to meet children who play online, who used to play at primary school, or who enjoy playing at home with their families. Younger children are welcome too, provided they are accompanied by a parent or carer throughout. Our only criteria are that they genuinely love chess and can already play a reasonable game.
