Turner devoted himself to his art and never married. However, this did not mean that he was uninterested in women. His personal life was complicated but also intensely private. Franny Moyle, author of the acclaimed biography The Extraordinary Life and Momentous Times of JMW Turner, discusses the women who shaped his personal life and considers his approach to women in his work.
