Artistic impressions for an overhaul of Twickenham Riverside have been unveiled to the public.

Twickenham residents can give their views on the plans by completing a questionnaire over the next few weeks.

The scheme will deliver homes, offices, shops, a café, a pub/ restaurant and plenty of open space.

There will be a children's play area, pétanque pitches and terraced lawns, more planting and additional trees.

The proposal also includes relocating Diamond Jubilee Gardens, extra public space and "flexible events space" along the Embankment and a widened Water Lane with inviting views from King Street.

Over the past 12 months, Hopkins Architects, with help from Richmond Council, have been developing the design for the new-look Twickenham Riverside, following a public competition in 2019.

Council leader Cllr Gareth Roberts said the project has already proven the council's biggest ever project in terms of community engagement.

"The beautiful new design from Hopkins presents a great opportunity for Twickenham and the wider borough," he said.

"We've listened and engaged more than ever before and I'm confident that when residents see the plans that they will be as enthused as I am about what promises to be an exciting new chapter in Twickenham's history; one which will see Twickenham Riverside opened up and become as much of a destination as the incredibly popular Richmond Riverside.

"The hard work of residents in working with us to deliver a truly exceptional vision for Twickenham, and to provide a beautiful riverside which will be enjoyed for generations, has really paid off and I look forward to hearing their views.

"Together we will deliver what the borough has been waiting decades for, a new heart for Twickenham."

Virtual presentations and a chance for residents to speak with the design team are being held.

A public consultation is open and comments can be left until February 3.
