A new season of ferry trips between Twickenham and Ham is set to begin.

Hammertons Ferry takes passengers from its jetty outside the grounds of Marble Hill Park over the River Thames towards near Ham House.

The family-run company takes pride in being the "last remaining privately owned foot ferry on the Tidal Thames".

The new season begins next week and will be the first for the family without 'captain' Francis Spencer at the helm.

Hundreds of residents lined the street for his funeral procession in January - and thousands watched online - in a huge show of support for Francis and Hammertons' role in the community.

"Our first day of the season will be Monday, March 1," they said.

"We will be running a full service with reduced passenger numbers on each trip, like last season.

"Please follow our rules and guidelines."
