A Twickenham school has launched a summer auction to improve its outdoor space for students.

St. Richard Reynolds Catholic College on Clifden Rd is fundraising "to transform a muddy, disused part of the school site into a recreation facility for our children to exercise, play sports and run around".

The auction, which is currently at an amazing £4,823 (as of Wednesday 17), aims to raise £6,000 for its Sport Space Renovation Race.

The school said: "School budgets have suffered hugely recently.

"Not only have there been substantial funding cuts, but now there is additional expenditure to cover the new challenges posed by Covid-19.

"Our wish list website is a really simple way for everyone in our community (parents, carers and friends) to make a huge difference to our school.

"By donating a much-needed gift, together we can enrich every pupil's school experience and, importantly, show appreciation to the teachers and support staff that develop and care for our children."

The auction began on June 7 and will run until 9pm on June 27, and has been organised by The Friends of St Richard Reynolds.

Twickenham boutique estate agency Darren Bartlett Real Estate is one of the sponsors of the wish list, and has also donated the top prize for the auction.

Jennifer Parker, the auction's organiser, said: "Darren Bartlett Real Estate has kindly supported the Friends of St Richard Reynolds Summer Auction with the top lot, a luxury parent getaway for two at Bingham Riverside which includes the best river room, seven-course dinner and breakfast."

Other items donated include cycling lessons with pedalup, handmade prints by Alex Salter at Duck Egg prints, a Breakfast in Bed Hamper from GAIL'S, a family day out at Kew Gardens, one month's parking on a driveway near the school, and Hampton & Richmond Borough FC match tickets plus a signed shirt.

Darren said: "It's really important to me that I give back to my local community. My business is growing and I've got so many people to thank for recommending me.

"This is my way of saying thanks and ensuring the school receives the support they need."

If you are a parent with children at St Richard Reynolds school, Darren also gives £250 to the school for every referral – so if you know anyone looking to move home, just let Darren know and he can help. Email him at [email protected] or contact him on Facebook or Instagram.
