Twickenham Care Provider helps their Clients Access Kew the Music
Bluebird Care, a local home care company supported three customers to attend Kew the Music, held in the Royal Botanic Gardens.
When the disability access tickets were purchased by the company to offer to their customers at no cost, the demand was overwhelming. "Helping our customers to experience events in world-renowned venues like Kew Gardens is the icing on the cake of providing home and live-in care in the Richmond borough," said Bluebird Care's Registered Manager Jacqui McPherson.
She continued, "Many local people struggle to safely access the community due to mobility issues. For our customers, their care and support don't stop when they cross the threshold of their homes… whatever your passions and interests, our Bluebird can help you access the community and create magical memories." Wheelchair taxis were organised and hand-picked carers were rostered to support their customers to hear Jools Holland and his orchestra in the stunning setting.
A customer's wife said of the evening, "He really enjoyed getting out and thought it was brilliant! He doesn't get out often, but his carer was so good with him. We are grateful for the experience."
Jacqui notes, "There is a preconception that life stops when challenges start. That challenge could be physical frailty, dementia, Parkinson's, a fall, hospitalisation, the loss of a loved one… we believe that care enriches lives. Our Bluebirds support our customers to live their best lives on their own terms. Sometimes that looks like a Sunday visit to church or a popping out for a fresh croissant from their favourite bakery. and sometimes it's experiencing incredible events like Kew the Music. Whatever their ambitions, it's our honour to support local residents."
