The Met Police has named individuals arrested during London protests last week on Wednesday, 7 August, which includes a person from Twickenham.

Ahmad Behbbod, 18, of Chertsey Road, Twickenham was charged with possession of a pointed article at High Street, Hounslow and is due to appear at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court on Friday, 23 August.

This arrest comes as the Met stationed thousands of officers throughout the capital to "support" and "reassure communities" over the weekend.

Anti immigration protests were planned to take place in London towns such as Hounslow, Walthamstow, Harrow and Finchley, but counter protest and police presence took place instead on 7 August.

Activists from Stand Up To Racism were spotted on Great West Road, Brentford holding signs reading "Refugees welcome. Stop the far right" in response to anti-immigration protests.

Following events in Walthamstow and Hounslow on Wednesday night (7 August) four people have been charged with offences including possessing offensive weapons, going equipped to cause criminal damage and assaulting emergency workers.

The Met say it "will continue to focus relentlessly on anyone suspected of fuelling violence, disorder and hate in our city."

Currently, investigators are pursuing dozens of cases and more than 30 people have now been charged following disorder and antisocial behaviour.

The investigators are working closely with the Crown Prosecution Service which has made extra lawyers available to ensure swift decision making, the Met say.

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Andy Valentine, who is leading the police operation, says: "It has been hugely heartening to see communities come together this week and it is our privilege to support them.

"Nevertheless, we won't tolerate hate or intimidation and that is why more than 30 people have been charged with a range of offences.

"Our message is clear - anyone thinking of causing disorder and disruption will be found and will be brought to justice.

"This weekend you will see our officers in your neighbourhoods. They are there to help you and if you have any concerns please speak to them."

Jaswant Narwal and Lionel Idan, Chief Crown Prosecutors with responsibility for the two Crown Prosecution Service London areas, adds: "Prosecutors across London are working in real-time with the police to provide legal advice, authorise charges, and get perpetrators into court quickly to deliver justice.

"There can be no doubt that anyone involved in disorder, hate crimes or social media related offences will be prosecuted.

"We're using a variety of offences and court orders to make sure that perpetrators receive tough penalties."
