A planning application has been submitted to Richmond Council to change retailer Star Print into a children's nursery.

The stationers, which has been a much-loved feature of Twickenham's Heath Road since 1984.

It closed its doors last week (February 16) as the owners are entering retirement.

The planning application has been submitted by Innovate Planning on behalf of Greenwood Childcare - a nursery school service in a day care setting for children aged 12 months to 5 years old.

It is open all year round from 7:30am to 6pm.

The application cover letter says: "The property has been in use as retail (Use Class E) for a period of approximately 39 years and therefore this is the lawful use of the site.

"The proposed use of the site as a childrens nursery also falls within Use Class E and therefore planning permission is not required."

As a result of this, the application is for a Certificate of lawfulness for the proposed use of the site as a childrens nursery.
