The people of Whitton will come together on Sunday for a celebration designed to bring the community together under the banner of St George's Day.

Sunday, April 23, is the national day of England and patron saint, St George, and the event – organised by Love Whitton - will feature people from all traditions and cultures.

Notably, performers from the Ukrainian community who have found sanctuary in the borough will also be participating.

It is providing the catalyst for a day of fun, games and entertainment with a huge collection of stalls, good food and three performance areas.

The centrepiece is a parade which begins at noon and features local schools, youth and community groups, Harley Davidsons, Classic Cars, Scooters, Military Vehicles, Mascots, Marching Bands and more.

St George himself will make an appearance, along with a Dragon and Damsel in distress.

Visitors can look forward to carnival performers, stilt walkers, the Royal British Legion Marching Band, the Dhol Academy's Indian drummers, the Whitton Community band and the Roger Perrin Marching Jazz Band.

Children from Nelson School, Bishop Perrin School, Whitton Day Nursery, St Edmunds School, Heathfield Schools, Chase Bridge and Turin House will be taking part, along with local scout groups.

The fabulous community events will also bring together participants from local dance groups and sports clubs as well as police and fire brigade cadets.
