An accident on the road alongside Twickenham Green is causing severe traffic congestion.

Early reports – yet to be confirmed – are that a young girl was knocked over.

Twickenham & Richmond Tribune tweeted at just after 4pm to say: "An accident on the Hampton Road side of Twickenham Green is causing severe traffic congestion.

"Police on site say a little girl had been knocked over, but there are no further details at the moment. Hopefully she is not seriously hurt."

A second person - @julie_twickers – added: "Accident left fork Twickenham Green. Road closed & traffic diverted. Car airbag deployed and someone in road. Hope they are not badly injured. Avoid area."
