The Richmond Volunteer Fair is being held this week and helps residents match with charities and community groups that make a positive difference to the borough.

The event, which is supported by Richmond CVS, takes place at Richmond and Hillcroft Adult Community College (RHACC) between 2pm and 6pm on Thursday.

At the Fair, there will be more than 40 groups working in the areas of sport, health, nature/environment, children and young people, learning, inclusivity, mental health, neighbourhood/community, advice, specialist support and more.

A spokesman said: "It's a great opportunity to meet local charities, community groups and other organisations that are actively recruiting volunteers. It's also the perfect chance to have a chat with others who are already volunteering.

"This year, there's added focus and impetus for volunteering with The Big Help Out – the national initiative launched to mark the King's Coronation which encourages everyone to 'join in, lend a hand and make a change' in their communities. The Volunteer Fair can help you to do just that.

"It offers the chance to meet and connect with a diverse range of amazing local groups with whom you could make a real difference.

"You could be looking to fill a few hours of spare time with a new activity or looking for a role that uses your professional skills and experience on a more regular basis."

The event is free to visit but the organisers ask people to make an advance booking. Details can be found here – https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/richmond-volunteer-fair-2023-tickets-615472624187
