Squeeze's Chris Difford has given Nub News an up-close exclusive ahead of the bands sold out gigs at The Exchange next weekend.

Squeeze will be performing at The Exchange in Twickenham on 15 and 17 March 2024.

The British music legends will play two intimate dates at the venue ahead of their 50th anniversary tour and performance for the Teenage Cancer Trust, at the Royal Albert Hall, on 18 and 20 March.

The Exchange gig marks the start of a bumper year for the band, with an extensive UK tour to celebrate their career spanning half a century.

Iconic songwriter team, Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook join with bassist Owen Biddle, guitarist Melvin Duffy, percussionist Steve Smith, keyboardist Stephen Large and drummer Simon Hanson to perform a list of hits, and rare gems, from their back catalogue of 70s and 80s classics.

Squeeze came to prominence in the late 1970s, and continued recording in the 1980s, 1990s and 2010s.

They have left an indelible impression on the UK music scene with iconic songs, 'Up the Junction, 'Cool for Cats', 'Another Nail in My Heart', 'Hourglass' and 'Tempted', written by Difford and Tilbrook, who have remained at the heart of Squeeze since its inception.

Chris Difford said: "The exchange is a good venue to play, and we think it's perfect for our needs, I personally have played there as a solo artist and enjoyed the evening very much.

"I have a personal connection to Twickenham - my stepson was at school there and my wife Louise was at college a few streets away in her teenage years.

"I once played some songs in Pete Thomas's house the drummer from Elvis Costello, he used to live just down the street.

"We as a band will be playing our top of the drawer set of songs, a set to please and to ignite our fans with love.

"It's always great to play to people up close, and this will be very close."

The gig at The Exchange sold out in two minutes - but there is a waiting list!
