Following feedback from residents in a consultation run earlier this year, Richmond Council has installed inclusive sports and fitness equipment.

Part of the council's Friendly Park for All plans, six parks in the borough will see improvements to make them more accessible including Cambridge Gardens.

The gym was developed in partnership with Richmond Mencap’s Working Together Group.

The following equipment has been installed:

  • A multi-purpose fitness frame, including lat pull, chest press and leg press
  • Arm and pedal bicycle
  • Bicycle
  • Wheelchair accessible Tai Chi discs
  • Skier

The council is also working with Richmond Mencap to install a food growing area and sensory garden with seating in Cambridge Gardens overlooking the Thames.

Richmond Council comment: "We would like to thank everyone who took the time to provide responses.

"The feedback collected has contributed to making changes and improving our parks and open spaces, making Richmond upon Thames an even nicer and more inclusive place."
