A man has died following a major emergency services response outside Wimbledon station this afternoon (Monday, 8 December).

Emergency crews were called to The Broadway at around 2.33pm, with police, firefighters, ambulance teams and London's Air Ambulance all attending.

National Rail has not confirmed the nature of the incident, while The London Ambulance Service (LAS) has since confirmed that a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesperson for the LAS said: "We were called today (8 December) at 2.23pm to reports of an incident at Wimbledon rail station, SW19.

"We sent resources including ambulance crews, advanced paramedic practitioners, incident response officers, members of our Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and London's Air Ambulance.

"Sadly, a man was pronounced dead at the scene."

National Rail has confirmed that lines have reopened, although the incident has caused disruption to South Western Railway (SWR) services in Twickenham.

Disruption is expected to continue until the end of day. To find out if your journey was affected visit SWR's website here.
