Emergency gas works on London Road in Twickenham set to cause delays
By Nub News Reporter 21st May 2026
Drivers in Twickenham are being warned to expect disruption after emergency roadworks were put in place on London Road.
According to Richmond Council, Cadent Gas is carrying out emergency works in the carriageway outside Berkley Court, close to the junction with Ivybridge Close.
Temporary two-way traffic lights have been installed while work takes place, with signals being manually controlled in an effort to keep traffic moving and reduce congestion.
The emergency works began following an incident requiring urgent attention and are currently expected to remain in place until 28 May.
Motorists travelling through the area are being advised to allow extra time for journeys, with delays expected on surrounding routes.
London Road is a key route through Twickenham and traffic disruption during peak periods could have a knock-on impact on nearby roads.
Richmond Council said the temporary traffic management measures are in place to help optimise traffic flow while the work is completed.
