Fans turn out for last days of Ted Lasso filming in Richmond
Hundreds of fans of the award-winning Apple TV+ series TED LASSO gathered around Richmond Green today as filming of the long-awaited Series Three continued with the first introduction of Ted's on-screen mother, the accomplished US actress Becky Ann Baker.
The early start began outside the Prince's Head with its sign changed to Crown & Anchor for filming and many of the crew, including camera operators, dressed just like Ted with AFC Richmond sweaters and chinos and even the female crew members wearing trademark Ted moustaches.
When the actor who plays Ted, Jason Sudeikis, arrived on the set later in the morning he bent double with laughter as he was surrounded by look-a-likes to mark Halloween and one of the last days of filming the cult series in the town.
Later in the morning the US actress Becky Ann Baker (pictured below), who was recently cast to play Ted's on-screen mother – her character name is unknown – was seen sat alone on the show's famous park bench near the two bright red telephone boxes with a large brown suitcase.
Eventually after many rehearsals Ted was filmed walking to the park bench and appeared not to recognise his TV mother.
In other scenes outside the pub Ted was seen high-fiving fans of his club AFC Richmond wearing the club's distinctive shirts as well as bumping into one of the club's biggest fans, Mr Mann, played by actor Tom Cotcher, who calls Ted 'w*****' every time he seems him.
During the afternoon filming switched to the So Bar in nearby Brewers Lane.
Filming of the much-anticipated Series 3 has been delayed by several months and is now expected to air in March next year. The show which features many British cast members including Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Nick Mohammed and Jeremy Swift, will also include cameos from Gary Lineker and Thierry Henry.
