The abandoned NatWest bank site in the centre of Twickenham is to be transformed into a Megan's dog-friendly restaurant, Nub News can reveal.

Megan's began its life as a small antiques shop on the Kings Road in 2002 but has since blossomed into an independently owned community café hub with eighteen locations across the UK.

The restaurant chain prides itself on their dog-friendly facilities as well as their delicious Mediterranean themed menu with brunch, lunch, dinner and cocktails available all day everyday.

Megan's are also intending on opening a new outlet on Hill Street in Richmond, however many residents have been surprised about how long it has taken the company to complete a refurbishment and open the doors. It faced some opposition to its application for a drinks license.

The arrival of the new large restaurant in Twickenham, which will cover 4,300 square feet, is a major boost to the centre of the town and could fill the hole left by the recent closure of Caffe Nero nearby.

The addition of this new dog-friendly location cements the borough as the most dog friendly area in London, boasting not only the riverside walks and Royal Parks but also plenty of places to rest up once a long dog walk is done.

Megan's said: "As we continue to enter into new neighbourhoods within London and beyond, we are so excited to say hello to the Twickenham community & introduce ourselves as the favourite dog-friendly, neigbourhood spot.

"This site promises to be an exciting one for Megan's, and we can't wait to transform the interiors into a Mediterranean inspired all-day dining location, and introduce our menu to our new neighbours, whisking them away to sunny places, morning, noon & night."

Levy Real Estate, who brokered the arrival in Twickenham, said it is very pleased to have let 4,300 sq ft of space to the 'very popular, all-day-dining, dog-friendly neighbourhood spot Megan's'.

Levy's Matt Paulson-Ellis said: "We are thrilled to welcome Megan's to Twickenham. This letting will significantly enhance the parade, and we are certain that Megan's will become the go-to restaurant for shoppers and residents alike. We can't wait to see them open in 2023".
