Lane closures for four months of gas works on A316 in Twickenham

By The Editor 13th Aug 2021

Four months of gas works on the A316 in Twickenham have been announced.

The borough's major A-road will be reduced to a single lane in both directions on Great Chertsey Road between Hospital Bridge Roundabout and Apex Corner while the works take place.

Residents are receiving letters from contractors Cadent Gas and road users have been advised to plan their journeys in advance.

The works start on Monday, January 25 and will last for approximately 13 weeks.

Cadent are replacing and upgrading old large diameter metal gas mains located deep beneath the road.

Letter sent to residents

The company says this will let it provide safe and reliable energy to homes and businesses across the borough into the future and cut the frequency of unplanned repair work to ageing gas pipes.

A section of the footpath on the A316 Great Chertsey Road will also be shut.

Cadent Gas will work alongside Richmond Council to minimise the impact on residents.
