The Friends of St Margarets Station are appealing for donations to help create a colourful floral display as the station celebrates its 150th anniversary.

The volunteer group is raising funds to refresh the station's existing planters and fill newly installed ones ahead of this year's Stations in Bloom judging on 24 July.

The group hopes the display will not only impress the judges but also provide a welcoming environment for passengers and benefit local wildlife.

Friends of St Margarets Station is made up of local volunteers who work together to improve and green the station, creating a more attractive space for commuters and visitors.

Organiser Sarah Penny said: "As we celebrate St Margarets Station's 150th birthday this year, we're preparing for the Stations in Bloom judging on 24 July and refreshing our existing planters while planting up the newly installed ones too.

"Our aim is to create an impactful summer display for the community, the judges and the local wildlife.

"Any amount, however small, would be gratefully received to help us purchase compost and plants to bring wonderful summer colour and brighten travellers' days."

The volunteers are hoping the community will get behind the fundraising effort, with every donation helping to transform the station into a vibrant gateway for the area during its milestone anniversary year.
