A new pop-up exhibition celebrating the story of Twickenham's High Tide Festival has opened at The Patch on York Street ahead of this month's annual music event.

The free exhibition, created in partnership with St Mary's University, features festival memorabilia, merchandise, photographs and historic programmes dating back to the first High Tide festival in 2019.

Designed by Mark Donnelly and Annariel Goncalves from St Mary's University's School of Arts, with support from Clare Mroz at The Patch, the display charts the growth of what has become one of the UK's largest free independent music festivals.

Visitors can explore the festival's history while learning how High Tide has helped revive Twickenham's rich live music heritage and become a major fixture in the town's cultural calendar.

High Tide began as an idea in 2017 when Eel Pie Records co-founders Kevin Jones and Phil Penman set out to celebrate Twickenham's famous music scene in a fresh way.

Rather than focusing solely on the town's musical past, the festival has combined established acts with emerging talent, giving artists including Goat Girl and Speedial a platform alongside well-known names such as Dodgy and The Selecter.

Since 2023, Leila Jones has worked alongside Kevin Jones in leading the festival's production.

The exhibition also features quotes from local businesses and festival-goers, highlighting the impact High Tide has had on Twickenham's community and town centre since it launched.

Co-designer Mark Donnelly said: "Telling this story was a brilliant opportunity for us to develop and extend our support for this fantastic community arts event."

The exhibition is now open at The Patch on York Street from Monday to Friday and will remain on display until shortly after this year's High Tide Festival, which takes place on Sunday, 26 July.
