A new coffee shop has arrived in Twickenham... in the middle of the street.

Amar Cafe is decking out the red phone box on King Street.

It will be turned into a miniature on-street cafe and opened on Sunday (February 21) according to local resident Con O'Brien of Connect Business Solutions Mobile.

Amar Cafe is run by young couple Lore Mejia and Sean Rafferty. The duo aim to source quality coffee from independent farms and cooperatives in Colombia and bring the story of how it was made to customers.

The Twickenham branch will be the fifth location in London they have opened in under a year.

Their company started in March 2020 in nearby Turnham Green after they reinvented two back-to-back phone boxes on the corner of Chiswick High Road.

They also run cafes in a telephone box in Greenwich and Stratford upon Avon and have a pitch at Portobello Market.

As we reported, Amar will soon be followed by the Red Box Charitable Trust who plan to transform the phone box in East Twickenham into a coffee kiosk.
