The show will (finally) go on this weekend at a Twickenham theatre with a play that has now been postponed for 18 months.

Richmond Shakespeare Society is opening Quartermaine's Terms at the Mary Wallace Theatre down by the riverside in Twickenham.

The show will be running for one week from Saturday July 17 to Saturday 24.

The play is written by Simon Gray and chronicles several years in the lives of a group of lecturers at a Cambridge School of English for Foreign Students.

The theatre says: "Gray's poignant, thoughtful comedy, described as one of the best plays of the 20th century, chronicles several terms in the lives of the staff of a Cambridge language school.

"The aspirations, disappointments and entanglements of the various tutors are revealed to us, although not to St John Quartermaine who remains blissfully unaware of the events unfolding around him."
