The Autumn term of Orleans House Gallery's Play:Make:Art children's activity starts tomorrow (15 September).

Play:Make:Art is their Friday morning (fortnightly) creative drop-in session for 2–5-year-olds, focusing on how play and imagination have an impact on our everyday lives.

Sessions will playfully explore the wide possibilities of different materials and encourage participants to use their imagination to think in creative and open ways.

The sessions are run by artist Abigail Hunt, who carefully curates materials that enable children to respond in their own way, the result being an open-ended, shared creative experience.

The sessions strive to be environmentally low impact, with Abigail often incorporating recycled and everyday materials that will be used multiple times in different seasons. Families are encouraged to enjoy the experience of the session, taking only memories home, so all materials can be used again.

The workshops support communication and collaboration between adults and children, encouraging them to explore together and allowing the youngest people in the room to decide the direction of the activities. This supports early skills development, co-ordination, and social interaction.

Tickets are on sale for £6 or £4 for concessions.
