Plans have been submitted to upgrade a 5G mast in Twickenham to improve mobile connectivity in the area.
Submitted by Wireless Infrastructure Group, the company proposes to replace its existing cell tower at Arlington Works, Arlington Road with a new one.
The current mast stands at around 15.5 metres, while the new one would reach just under 20 metres.
The applicant said: "It is extremely important for the functionality of the local businesses for a robust and reliable telecommunication infrastructure, with a wide range of telecommunication services.
"It is also extremely important for Local residents to have a reliable telecommunication infrastructure, with many more people working from home this is increasingly important.
"The proposed installation will ensure this infrastructure is upheld."
A local resident on Heathcote Road supports the proposals, agreeing a new mast would improve 5G connection in the area.
They said: "I would like to support this application as this area specifically and London in general needs better connectivity and 5G service.
"We are all relying on 5G but if we do not have the masts to provide it, we will suffer loss of amenity and businesses could suffer.
"The selected mast is replacing an existing one and the design is for minimum visual impact yet excellent functionality allowing shared use and ability to meet current and future demands. And so seems an excellent choice."
