Rail passengers are facing disruption this afternoon (Tuesday, 7 October) after emergency services were called to an incident between Twickenham and Staines.

All lines are currently blocked, and South Western Railway (SWR) has warned that trains may be cancelled, delayed or revised, with disruption expected to continue until around 5pm.

SWR said via X (formerly Twitter): "Emergency services are dealing with an incident between Twickenham and Staines.

"All lines are currently blocked and your journey is likely to take longer. As investigations continue, this may change, but we will provide updates as soon as possible."

To help affected passengers, SWR has confirmed that tickets will be accepted at no extra cost on several alternative routes, including:

  • Transport for London buses between Clapham Junction, Barnes, Richmond, Twickenham, Strawberry Hill, Teddington, Fulwell and Shepperton
  • London Overground (Mildmay Line) between Richmond and Clapham Junction via Willesden Junction in both directions
  • London Underground District Line between Richmond and Embankment – passengers can change to the Northern Line for London Waterloo
  • London Underground Piccadilly Line between Heathrow Terminals 3, 4 and 5, Hounslow West and Green Park – passengers can change to the Jubilee Line for London Waterloo

Passengers are advised to check live updates before travelling and allow extra time for their journeys.
