A planning application has been submitted to convert a four-bedroom detached house in Whitton into two separate flats.

The property, located on Hanworth Road near the border with Hounslow and close to the M3, currently sits within a mixed residential area in the north of Richmond borough.

Under the plans, submitted on behalf of Mr Jagmohan Dhawan by Design Endeavours Ltd, the existing home would be split into a three-bedroom flat and a one-bedroom flat, with both units having independent access.

According to the proposal, the ground floor flat would be accessed from the front of the property, while the first floor flat would be reached via a separate side entrance.

The forecourt would also be adapted to provide two off-street parking spaces and a shared bin storage area.

Design Endeavours said: "The intention of the proposal is to promote high quality sustainable design and materials, whilst maximising the development potential. The new layout is designed to be sympathetic with the London Plan and lifetime home requirements."

It added that the design would not negatively impact the character of the area and is consistent with similar developments nearby, helping to provide affordable, well-designed homes for small families wanting to live near local centres.

The application is now with Richmond Council for consideration. To read the full application click here.
