Plans to convert Twickenham office into flats spark concerns from neighbours

A planning application has been submitted to convert an office space in Twickenham into three two-bedroom flats.
Victoria Page Architecture has put forward proposals to transform the office on Candler Mews into residential units.
The site is currently the corporate office of engineering and construction consultancy firm, JSA.
However, the plans have sparked concerns from two local residents, who argue that the development would impact their privacy, as the new flats would be positioned directly behind their homes and gardens.

Mr and Mrs Newman said: "We strongly object to the application for the change of use from offices to flats. This is directly behind our house and the flats will be able to see into our house and garden.
"This is a violation of our privacy and that of our neighbours. This is particularly relevant at night when they can see directly into every room in our house.
"We have already had to plant extra trees to protect our privacy from the last offices that were changed into flats in 2024, next to these proposed ones. It is already a busy cobbled road that runs parallel to our house.
"The cobbles make the noise of traffic even more pronounced than a normal flat road. Traffic will be intensified at all hours of the day and night.
"We have already noticed a huge increase in traffic down this road from the newly converted offices into flats (air b and b's) and the road has become a car park during school drop off and pick up times."
Back in May 2024, almost identical plans were put forward to change the office into three flats but were later withdrawn.
The plans will be decided in due course. To read the full application click here.
