Queen remembered by The Poppy Factory

By Rory Poulter 9th Sep 2022

The Poppy Factory in Richmond, which was first visited by the then Princess Elizabeth in 1946, has offered its profound condolences.

The veterans charity, which provides vital support to the nation's servicemen, was a favourite of Her Majesty, who visited many times to mark key milestones in its history.

She first visited in the aftermath of World War II, along with younger sister, Princess Margaret, to see its work in the production of Remembrance Day poppies.

She returned again, including for events to mark its 70th and 90th anniversaries.

Camilla, The Queen Consort, is a patron of the charity and visited last year to open its new Visitor Centre to mark its 100th year.

A spokesman said today: "The trustees, staff, and volunteers of The Poppy Factory extend their profound condolences to our Patron, Her Majesty The Queen Consort, and to her whole family, on the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

"We offer our enduring support to Her Majesty in her new and vital role in the life of our nation, and in her support to His Majesty The King."
