Rail passengers travelling through Twickenham and surrounding areas are facing disruption this afternoon after an incident between Mortlake and Whitton forced the closure of all lines.

According to National Rail, a trespass incident reported at around 3:44pm today (Tuesday, 16 June) has led to major disruption on the South Western Railway network.

As a result, all lines between Mortlake and Whitton are currently closed, with trains expected to be delayed by up to 30 minutes, revised or potentially cancelled.

National Rail has said disruption is expected to continue until at least 6:30pm this evening while the incident is dealt with.

The disruption is affecting South Western Railway services, with commuters travelling through Richmond, Twickenham, Barnes and surrounding stations likely to face delays during the afternoon and early evening rush hour.

Passengers are being urged to check before travelling and allow extra time for their journeys.
