Roxie Steak & Tap in Twickenham is set to be renamed the Black Dog as part of a major investment in pubs across the country by Heineken.

The brewery announced earlier this year it would be injecting £39 million into more than 600 pubs across the UK, with 62 closed inns to be brought back to life.

Star Pubs - the Dutch brewery's hospitality arm - said the refurbishments will focus on "transforming tired pubs in suburban areas into premium locals".

Included in the list was Roxie Steak & Tap on London Road, which is set to have a "vibrant atmosphere" and have an "enticing street food menu" after the makeover.

The pub is also set to have beer pong, shuffleboard and digital darts.

Star Pubs is currently marketing the pub on its website as it searches for a new tenant.

"The Black Dog nestled in the heart of Twickenham," the advert says.

"Situated along the bustling Twickenham high street, this pub enjoys unparalleled foot traffic, especially on matchdays at nearby Twickenham Stadium and The Stoop Stadium.

"The area boasts a vibrant atmosphere and is conveniently close to the scenic River Thames.

"With a demographic skewing towards a youthful, affluent crowd seeking premium experiences, there are 6,740 adults within a 10-minute walk, over-indexing in the 18-35 age group compared to the national average.

"Its strategic location places it in direct competition with 15 other pubs and bars, yet its planned full external refurbishment promises to enhance its kerb appeal and allure.

"Featuring a trendy yet approachable High Street style, this pub will offer a diverse range of entertainment options from digital darts to beer pong, creating an engaging atmosphere for patrons seeking competitive socialising and memorable nights out."

A planning application for the new signs and the rebrand has also been submitted to Richmond Council.

Included in the application are plans for a new fascia signs, a mural, a projected sign and seven flood lights at the first floor level.

Plans also state the pub will be repainted to cover up the graffiti sprayed on it.

The application said: "The scale of the proposals, particularly the proposed colour pallet, typeface shown and warm white lighting are sympathetic to the existing character of the building and name. "
