A part of the borough is to be shifted out of the Twickenham parliamentary constituency in a move that has infuriated residents and the sitting MP, Munira Wilson.
Whitton will be transferred to a new Brentford & Isleworth constituency - an area currently represented by Labour's Ruth Cadbury.
However, objectors fear it will lead to confusion, for Whitton will remain in Richmond borough, which will provide community facilities and parks, planning, children's services, social care and other services.
The initial proposal from the Boundary Commission drew massive opposition with more than 900 objections registered by residents and Twickenham's Lib-Dem MP, Munira Wilson.
Despite the public backlash, it is now being pushed through by the Commission and the Government.
The change to the Parliamentary boundaries across the country is thought likely to give the Conservatives an advantage in winning seats in Parliament.
In theory, taking Whitton out of Twickenham might give the Conservatives a better chance of victory in future elections.
Munira Wilson lives in the Heathfield area, which remains in the Twickenham constituency while neighbouring Whitton will be carved out and shifted to Brentford & Isleworth.
The MP attacked the changes, saying they are 'part of the current Conservative government's cynical and arbitrary review of constituency boundaries'.
She said: "I have considered myself a proud Whitton local since I moved to the area in 2011.
"I am very sad to see that the Conservatives' cynical redrawing of the electoral map will tear our town in two, putting a boundary through the heart of our community.
"Local Liberal Democrats strongly opposed these plans to displace Whitton from the Twickenham constituency and, in particular, to isolate the Dene Estate next to the Stoop from its closest neighbours on the south side of the A316.
"I know from talking to many Whitton residents they are furious about this move. I thank them for their support in challenging the Boundary Commission's proposals through the consultation phase.
"I will continue to be Whitton's woman in Westminster, representing all of Whitton's residents in Parliament until the next election on issues from Heathrow noise and SWR services at the station, to the cost of living crisis and NHS care."
Residents objected to the change in boundaries, saying: "Whitton has no connection with Brentford and Isleworth."
One said: "It will divide my area in two and I consider it to be a complete waste of time and money given the desperate issues which the country is now facing."
Another said: "To be arbitrarily moved from the constituency that I have always voted in is beyond contempt."
Others said 'it makes no sense' and stressed that Whitton is fundamentally linked to Twickenham.
One more said: "This is such a stupid proposal but hardly surprising given the utter incompetence rife within government and the civil service at present."
Even Brentford residents have questioned the move. One wrote on social media: "I am a long-term resident of Brentford and had no idea these places, Whitton etc ,were even nearby. I literally have no idea where they are."
The arrival of a Labour MP in the borough will give the party a campaigning foothold in the area, which could give members a greater chance of winning seats on Richmond Borough Council.
