Two businesses in Richmond have been named among the best in London in a regional awards which recognises the work of local independents.

Feather & Stitch has been named The Best Women's Fashion/Accessories shop in London, beating off competition from four other companies.

Meanwhile Swiss Bread Bakery and Café in Richmond has been named the Best Café in the city.

The prizes were announced yesterday (May 2) as part of the Muddy Awards 2024.

Voted for by local customers, the awards were held for the 11th time by online guide Muddy Stilettos London.

The awards shortlisted five different businesses in each of 21 different categories, with the public then voting for their favourite.

Feather & Stitch and Swiss Bread Bakery will now be entered into the national competition, which a chance to be named among the best indies in the country.

Following the announcement yesterday, Swiss Bread Bakery posted on social media: "Wow we made it! We have won best Café in London!!!!

"Thank you so much for your support … from nominating us through to final voting, you have shown us so much love.

"We were up against some massively deserving businesses too, so that makes it feel even more like an achievement."

Meanwhile Feather & Stitch said it was "delighted and so grateful" and thanked customers for voting.
