A Grey Seal has been spotted near Twickenham this afternoon (Monday 15 January).

Local kayaker, Captain Quack, posted his sighting on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter).

He said: "Just spotted the Thames Grey Seal by Radnor Garden in Twickenham.

"Gently bobbing and snorting on the surface, before disappearing again."

There are a number of seals that live on the thames - including harbour seals, grey seals, harbour porpoises, and sometimes even dolphins and whales.

If you see a seal in the Thames you can report it through the Zoological Society of London.

They have been collating public sightings of these marine mammals since 2004.

Their website says: "These sightings form a crucial part of our understanding of the biodiversity in the Thames and help us conserve these charismatic top predators."
